UR CS Club Minutes from September 23, 1999 Old News: No Meeting was held last week, September 16, 1999, due to Hurricane Floyd The Programming Contest Brainstorming Session was held Saturday. A lot of great ideas were presented and worked on. Events: Ice Cream Social: We will be scooping Ice Cream for the MCS Ice Cream Social on Friday, September 24, 1999 from 3:30PM - 5:00PM. Ideas for a skit were tossed around. Nothing was decided upon. A Sign-Up sheet for Laser Tag will be availible. Speakers: We are still awaiting conirmation of Dr. Greenfield's and Dr. Bax's speaking dates in October and November respectively. Social Events: Laser Tag is scheduled for Saturday evening, October 2, 1999. The location and exact time will be announced at the next meeting. Tony is reseving a location and time as soon as we have preliminary estimates on the number of people attending. A sign-up sheet will be at the Ice Cream Social tommarrow. If you attend next week's meeting, you can go for free, otherwise you pay your own way. Future Events: A trip to the National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. to view the computer and technology exhibit is being planned for later this semester or next semester. Constitution changes: Minor changes to the wording of the URCSC Constitution were made and approved by unanimous vote. Changes included removing membership dues andd changing the position of Software Librarian to Webmaster. SOBAC: Fran is taking care of all SOBAC paper work so we can receive funding. Programming Contest: We have question topics thanks to the brain-storming session. All information will be posted on the Website. We finalized the rules and Fran and Mike will be finalizing the questions. An awards reception is planned and prizes will be given out. Website: The Members Page, the Calendar, and the Minutes were all updated - Thank You Fran and Chris. Future additions will include an interactive calendar and the Programming Contest. The Programming Contest portion of the Website will consist of the Rules, the Questions, Results, Grading Standards, and Solutions as well as general information about the contest. The Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 30th at 4:00PM in Jepson 213.
