Books

I helped Joe Kent out with two books for the CS1/CS2 sequence. The books are a sort of expanded lab manual, organized around exercises that demonstrate the basic ideas in the two courses, but including enough explanatory material to serve as a textbook or self-study manual. The two books use Java 1.2, and outside of a few places where we talk about the general use of IDEs or debuggers, the books are not oriented to any particular software beyond the Java SDK.

The books are published by Franklin, Beedle and Associates. The links to the FBA web site below provide basic descriptions of the books, an annotated table of contents, and PDFs of selected chapters.
